RICHMOND, Va. - Victor Roache picked up his sixth All-American Honor for the 2011 season this week. The sophomore was tabbed as the CollegeBaseballInsider.com's First Team designated hitter.

The Ypsilanti, Mich. native hit .326 with 30 home runs and 84 RBIs in the 2011 season. The sophomore outfielder set new Georgia Southern and Southern Conference single-season home run records and was twice named the SoCon's Player of the Month. He is currently playing summer baseball for the Cotuit Kettleers in the Cape Cod League.

Roache finished second in the TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby earlier in July. He hit four home runs over the first two rounds to advance to the finals.

Leeds, Aldrich Selected To CBI All-America Teams

CHARLESTON, S.C. - College of Charleston baseball teammates Matt Leeds and Daniel Aldrich were selected to the College Baseball Insider All-America teams, the organization announced on Thursday. Leeds was named to the first team, while Aldrich made the second team.

Leeds, drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 31st round of the 2011 MLB entry draft, was also selected to the Baseball America All-America Third Team, the NCBWA All-America First Team, and was picked as a Louisville Slugger All-America Third Team selection. A native of Boca Raton, Fla., Leeds was selected by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) as a Capital One Academic All-America First Team selection.

Leeds finished the 2011 season with a .345 batting average, 18 home runs and 80 RBIs, ranking third in the country in runners batted in.

Redshirt-freshman Daniel Aldrich, the 2011 TD Ameritrade Home Run Derby Champion, has already been selected to a number of All-America teams, while also being honored as the NCBWA National Freshman of the Year and Collegiate Baseball's National Freshman of the Year.

A native of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Aldrich led all Division I freshmen in home runs (22), RBIs (73), slugging percentage (.739) and total bases (164). Aldrich also had 25 multi-hit games on the season and had a team-best 17-game hitting streak in February and March.

Heffley Named Second Team All-America by CollegeBaseballInsider.com

Rising senior led the Catamounts, SoCon in hitting in 2011

Cullowhee, N.C. - Post-season accolades for Western Carolina rising senior Ross Heffley were concluded this week as the Catamounts' second baseman garnered second team All-America honors from CollegeBaseballInsider.com.

Heffley was one of four recognized from the Southern Conference joining first team selections Matt Leeds (CofC) at third base and Victor Roache (GSU) as the DH. Charleston's Daniel Aldrich (OF) joined Heffley on the second team.

Heffley had a tremendous junior season, leading the SoCon in both batting average (.419) - the only player above the minimums in the league to crest the .400 average mark - and in on-base percentage at .483. A first team All-Southern Conference selection this year, the Snellville, Ga., native became the first Catamount since 2007 - and just the 14th since 1961 - to win the school's Triple Crown for leading the team in batting average, home runs (11) and RBI (65).

He additionally reached base safely (H, BB, HBP) in 51 of the 53 games in which he played including a stretch of 38-straight games to conclude the season.

This off-season, Heffley was named Louisville Slugger first team All-American by Collegiate Baseball newspaper as well as first-team plaudits from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). He was also named to the ABCA All-Atlantic Region team following the 2011 campaign.
