Redshirt-freshman will represent American Division in CPL All-Star HR Derby
CHARLESTON, S.C. - College of Charleston outfielder Daniel Aldrich was selected to play in the 2011 Coastal Plain League All-Star Game on Monday, July 18 in Fayetteville, N.C.
Aldrich, recently named to the CBI All-America Second Team, has been playing for the Wilmington Sharks of the CPL, one of the nation's top summer collegiate baseball leagues. The native of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. is one of three players from the Sharks to be honored as a 2011 All-Star.
After winning the 2011 TD Ameritrade Home Run Derby in Omaha, Neb., on July 3, Aldrich was picked as one of eight representatives from the American Division of the League to participate in the CPL All-Star Home Run Derby, held on Sunday, July 17 as part of the two-day All-Star celebration at J.P. Riddle Stadium in Fayetteville.
Aldrich currently leads the Sharks with 28 RBIs, tying for fourth in the CPL. He has posted a slugging percentage of .416 while hitting seven doubles and three home runs.
