SAMFORD'S TAYLOR HAMMOND NAMED TO FLORIDA LEAGUE ALL-STAR GAME
ORLANDO, Fla.- Samford junior pitcher Taylor Hammond has been named to the South All-Star team for the Florida Collegiate Summer League, the league announced recently.
The league's All-Star game will be held on Tuesday, July 12th at Sanford Memorial Stadium in Sanford, Fla. The evening will begin with a home run derby at 6 p.m., followed the All-Star game, with the first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.
Hammond is playing for the Orlando Freedom this summer. So far this summer, Hammond has seen action in six games, including two starts.
In 12.1 innings of work, Hammond has a team-best ERA of 1.46, allowing just two earned runs. He has posted 13 strikeouts, while allowing just four walks.
Gunter Named To Sunbelt League All-Star Team

The league's All-Star game will be held on Saturday, July 18th at Oglethorpe University. The evening will begin with a home run derby at 6 p.m., followed the All-Star game, with the first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.
Gunter is a member of the Peachtree City Chukars in the Sunbelt League. He has pitched 19.2 innings so far this summer, giving up just three earned runs for a 1.37 ERA.
Gunter had posted 36 strikeouts, while allowing just three walks.
