Women's Golf 6/9/2011 9:40:00 AM College of Charleston Media Relations Whittaker Moves Into Second in German Amateur Rankings CHARLESTON, S.C. - With her strong finish at the German International Ladies Amateur Championship in May, Leigh Whittaker has moved up to the number two position nationally in the German women's national rankings.The rising senior from Baden Baden, Germany finished sixth of 107 in the championship with rounds of 81-73-75-73. She was the top German player in the event.Whittaker was an All-Southern Conference performer for the Cougars this past year posting a 75.30 stroke average. She also won two tournaments individually for the Cougars. In the spring she won the Pinehurst Challenge by eight shots and set a school record 11 under par 205 in claiming the Kiawah Island Palmetto Intercollegiate last October. Whittaker also was selected to the NCAA East Regional as an individual participant.Whittaker will continue her summer tournament schedule at the Irish Ladies Championship later in June.
