Sixteen Southern Conference baseball players were selected in the first two days of the Major League Baseball Draft, including 15 pitchers.
The first-year player draft will conclude on Wednesday with rounds 31-50, beginning at 12 p.m. ET.
Georgia Southern pitcher Matt Murray, the SoCon coaches' selection as the Pitcher of the Year in 2011, was the first SoCon player taken. Murray went in the 10th round, 306 overall, to the Kansas City Royals.
Also taken in the 10th round was College of Charleston catcher Rob Kral, who happened to be the only position player from the league drafted in the first 30 rounds. Kral was chosen by the San Diego Padres.
SoCon regular season champion Elon and tournament runner-up Samford led all conference schools with three selections through day two, followed by two each from Davidson, Georgia Southern and Western Carolina.
