Bulldogs? Mitchell Qualifies for U.S. Amateur

Samford's sophomore-to-be posted a 76 to finish just one stroke out of medalist honors

DICKSON, Tenn. --- Samford women's golfer Natalie Mitchell qualified for the United States Women's Amateur Public Links Championship this week as the Bulldogs' freshman fired a 76 on the 6,200-year, par-72 course at the Greystone Golf Glub. With her stellar performance, Mitchell finished just one stroke out of earning medalist honors in the top-flight competition.

The 2011 United States Golf Association (USGA) National Women's Amateur Championship will be held at the Bandon Dunes Golf Club in Bandon, Ore., June 27 - July 7.

The U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship is one of the most prestigious amateur events in the country and will undoubtedly boast an extremely talented field which will include the finest college players in the nation as well as the top amateurs in the country.
