About the Championships
The 2011 Southern Conference Cross Country Championships will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Trophy Lakes in Charleston, S.C on Johns Island. The College of Charleston will be hosting the event. This will be the 82nd Annual Cross Country Championship for the men and the 27th for the women. The 2010 Cross Country Championships ended with both Appalachian State University men's team and Samford University women's team defending their team titles by being named 2010 Conference Champions.
The Appalachian State men were led by sophomore Will Raby and had five runners in the top fifteen to claim the conference title for the sixth consecutive year with 55 points. Appalachian State, who was last year's preseason favorites to win the conference, placed four runners on the second-team all-conference team, which included Raby, Brandon Hudgins, Alex Taylor, and Sean Soderman. The UNCG men finished in second place with 66 points.
The Samford women claimed their second consecutive conference title with 71 points after placing two runners in the top five. The Bulldogs, who were tabbed as preseason favorites, were led by sophomore Lauren D'Alessio, who finished in second place overall and earned first-team all-conference honors. Senior Hillary Neal also earned first-team honors after finishing in third place. Senior Ina Ables earned second-team all-conference, and Claire Grogan claimed all-freshman honors for the Bulldogs. The Appalachian State women came in second place with 74 points.

Merge onto I-526 via Exit 212B toward Savannah. Turn LEFT onto Savannah Hwy/US-17. Turn RIGHT onto Wesley Dr./SC-171. Continue to follow SC-171. Turn RIGHT onto Maybank Hwy/SC-700. Travel approx. 4.9 miles. Turn RIGHT onto Sailfish Dr. (prominently marked with a sign for 'Whitney Lake'). Take your first LEFT - this is Marlin Dr. Continue down Marlin Drive to the gravel road and arrive at Trophy Lakes. Parking will be on your left.
From the South:
Take I-95N, merge onto US-17N via Exit 33 at Point South toward Charleston/Beaufort. Turn RIGHT onto Main Rd. Proceed over Intracoastal Waterway bridge onto Johns Island. Turn at 1st LEFT onto River Rd. Turn RIGHT onto Maybank Hwy/SC-700. Travel approx. 0.7 miles. Turn RIGHT onto Sailfish Dr. (prominently marked with a sign for 'Whitney Lake'). Take your first LEFT - this is Marlin Dr. Continue down Marlin Drive to the gravel road and arrive at Trophy Lakes. Parking will be on your left.
From Downtown Charleston:
Take Lockwood Dr. toward US-17. Lockwood travels underneath James Island Connector (SC Hwy 30). Go underneath next overpass. Turn left at next light heading South onto US-17. Road forks 500 yards after Ashley River Bridge. Take slight LEFT onto Folly Rd. Blvd./Folly Rd/SC-171). Turn RIGHT onto Maybank Hwy/SC-700 immediately after crossing Intracoastal waterway bridge. Proceed over fixed-span Stono River Bridge onto Johns Island. Travel about 1.4 miles. Turn RIGHT onto Sailfish Dr. (prominently marked with a sign for 'Whitney Lake'). Take your first LEFT- this is Marlin Dr. Continue down Marlin Drive to gravel road and arrive at Trophy Lakes. Parking will be on your left.
