About the Championship 

The 2012 Southern Conference Softball Championship will take place in Boone, N.C. on Wednesday, May 9th through Saturday, May 12th.  The event will be hosted by Appalachian State University at the Sywassink/Lloyd Family Stadium.  This will be the 19th annual Southern Conference Softball Championship.  All nine softball teams will participate in the championship and the winner will receive the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA regional softball tournament.

The Chattanooga Mocs put up seven runs in the fourth inning to defeat the College of Charleston Cougars 11-2 in five innings to win the 2011 Southern Conference Softball Championship.   The top seeded Lady Mocs went 4-0 during the tournament.  Chattanooga was selected as a #2 seed in the Tuscaloosa Regional of the NCAA Tournament.
