Christine Wolf Qualifies for U.S. Women?s Open

Wolf, who graduated in May, finished tied for third as one of seven advancing out of Jacksonville, Fla.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- Chattanooga departing senior Christine Wolf (Igls, Austria) added to a strong final season qualifying for a berth in the United States Women's Open July 7-10 at the Broadmoor (East Course) in Colorado Springs, Colo. Wolf was one of seven to advance from Deerwood Country Club in Jacksonville, Fla.

Wolf tied for third shooting rounds of 67 and 75 for a 36-hole total of two under, 142. She tied with Silvia Cavalleri and fellow collegian Lindy Duncan of Duke. LPGA tour pros Mi Hyun Kim and Aree Song finished first and second. Kim won it at minus 10, 134, while Song was second at 139 (-5).

A May graduate in marketing and management, Wolf likes playing in the Jacksonville area. She captured medalist honors setting school and tournament records in March at the JMU/Eagle Landing Invitational at Eagle Landing Golf Club in suburban Jacksonville. New marks included low round (66, -6), 36 holes (141, -3) and total (209, -7).

The All-Southern Conference selection helped lead the Mocs to their second straight SoCon Championship in April, and third consecutive trip as a team to NCAA Regionals in Notre Dame, Ind., in May. Wolf is the first Mocs women's golfer to qualify for the U.S. Women's Open beating among others the No. 3 ranked player in the R&A World Amateur Golf Rankings, Mitsuki Katahira of Japan.
