Dallas McPherson Called Up to Chicago White Sox

Charleston, S.C. - Former Citadel standout Dallas McPherson's contract with the Charlotte Knights was purchased by the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday.

McPherson (Randleman, N.C.) had a pinch-hit single in the eighth inning of Chicago's 4-3 win over Texas on Tuesday night at U.S. Cellular Field in his first major league appearance since 2008 with the Florida Marlins. After hitting .305 with three homers, nine doubles, 17 RBI and 17 runs scored with the Knights, the AAA-affiliate of the White Sox, McPherson was called up Tuesday when Mark Teahen was placed on the 15-day disabled list.

In his major league career with the Angels, Marlins and now the White Sox, McPherson has 92 hits, 18 homers, 21 doubles and 45 RBI in 129 career games played in the majors. As the 57th overall pick in the 2001 MLB Draft by Anaheim, McPherson had 21 homers, 44 doubles, 118 runs, 127 RBI and 193 hits with a career slugging percentage of .544 in three years at The Citadel.

Another former Bulldog also received a promotion this week as Matt Crim (Charleston, S.C.) was brought up to the Mississippi Braves, the AA-affiliate of Atlanta. Crim was 1-3 with an ERA of 3.55 in nine appearances and two starts with the Lynchburg Hillcats, the Class A-Advanced affiliate to start the season. He gave up just two runs on eight hits in 7.0 innings in his final appearance with Lynchburg on April 29.
