SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Appalachian State freshman Breanna Alston and Western Carolina junior Felisha Garren have been named Southern Conference Women's Co-Outdoor Track Athletes of the Week while Western Carolina senior Zakiyyah Stewart Bryant was named the SoCon Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for their performances for all meets, April 1-3. The selections are made by the league's track and field coaches.
Alston, a Greensboro, N.C., native, set a personal best in the 200m with a time of 24.34 at the Liberty Invitational. It was the first time that Alston has run the event in the outdoor season, and her time currently leads the conference.
Garren, a junior from Hendersonville, N.C., recorded the fasted time in the SoCon this season in the 400m dash with a mark of 54.88 at the Tiger Track Classic hosted by Auburn University. Her time was a personal best for Garren. At Auburn, Garren also ran a 54.2 split on the 4x400m relay that helped the Catamounts post a SoCon leading time of 3:45.02 in the event.
Bryant, a senior from Hickory, N.C., set three personal records and two school records over the weekend at the Tiger Track Classic. Bryant had tosses of 146'5" in the discus, 171'10" in the hammer and 45'10.5" in the shot put. Her discus and hammer marks are Western Carolina records, and she currently leads the SoCon in the two events. Bryant ranks second in the shot put.

Samford freshman Danielle Blanco - Ran the fastest conference time in the 400m hurdles that the Tiger Track Classic with a time of 1:02.84.
Appalachian State freshman Cassie Crawford - Won the pole vault at the Liberty Invitational by clearing the height of 12'7.5".
