SPARTANBURG, S.C. - College of Charleston junior Leigh Whittaker has been named the Southern Conference Women's Golfer of the Week for all competition from March 30 - April 5.
Whittaker led from start to finish to claim her second individual victory of the season. Her three-round total of 219 (+3) was eight strokes better than the nearest competitor, teammate Kathy Boehm. Whittaker, who hails from Baden-Baden, Germany, carded her best round to close the event with a one-under par 71 on Tuesday.
As a team, the Cougars were also victorious, finishing 12 strokes in front of Minnesota with a 54-hole score of 913.
Other top performers this week were Appalachian State's Kristina Boo, Chattanooga's Emma de Groot, Western Carolina's Josefine Sundh and Wofford's Alex Rankin.
