CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Samford University won its first Southern Conference Men's Tennis Championship with a 4-0 win over College of Charleston Saturday afternoon at the Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.  The Bulldogs knocked off the No. 2 seeded Cougars a day after topping No. 1 seed Elon.

The fifth-seeded Bulldogs won the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions.  Carl Abalos and Oliver Reynolds topped Lukas Koncilia and Kyle Parker 8-5 at the top position while Zac Dunkle and Alexander Sajonz beat Tom Delme and Stephen Hardy 8-6 at No. 2.

Kadi gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Koncilia at No. 1 singles.  Oliver Reynolds pushed the Bulldogs ahead, 3-0 with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Boyer at No. 4 singles.  Minutes later Carl Abalos posted a straight-sets win (6-3, 6-4) over Tom Delme at No. 3 to clinch the match for the Bulldogs.

With the win Samford earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Men's Tennis Championships.  College of Charleston finished the season 17-6.
