Men's Track & Field Athletes of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Appalachian State junior Dennis Moore has been named Southern Conference Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week while Samford sophomore Brandon Bassett was named the SoCon Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for their performances for all meets, April 8-10.  The selections are made by the league's track and field coaches.

Moore, a junior from Asheville, N.C., won the 100m and 200m dashes and ran a leg in the winning 4 x 100m relay team at the Mountains vs. Beaches meet over the weekend.  His times in the 100m (10.67), 200m (21.51) and the 4 x 100m (40.14) rank 8th in the East Region.

Bassett, a Tallahassee, Fla., native, finished fourth in both the high jump and the javelin at the Florida State Invitational.  Bassett jumped a personal best of 6'06.75" in the high jump and threw a conference and personal best of 198'5" in the javelin.  He also cleared 14'7" in the pole vault over the weekend.

Other top performers this week included:

The Citadel sophomore Brunson Miller - Won the 400m at the Duke Invitational with a time of 47.48.  Miller also finished fourth in the 200m with a time of 21.79.

Appalachian State senior Malcolm Styers - Placed second in the shot put at the Mountains vs. Beaches meet with a throw of 52'9.25."
