SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Georgia Southern's Marie Fogle has been selected as the Southern Conference Softball Player of the Week, while Elon's Lauren Taylor has been honored as the Pitcher of the Week for all games February 28 - March 6. The selections are made by the league office.

Fogle, a junior from Rincon, Ga., hit .625 at the plate with a 1.375 slugging percentage for the week.  She also scored twice with three RBI and two steals.  Against Louisiana-Monroe, Fogle was 3-for-3 and missed completing the cycle by a home run.  However, against No. 7 Tennessee, Fogle completed the weekend cycle by hitting her third first-inning leadoff home run of the season.

Taylor, a senior at Elon, started two games and went 2-1 at the Stetson Invitational in DeLand, Fla.  The Lilllington, N.C., native went 13.2 innings in the circle with a 1.62 ERA, allowing only three runs off 14 hits while striking out 16.  Taylor improved her season record to 6-2 with an overall ERA of 1.88.  Taylor also received the weekly honor on Feb. 21.

Also receiving nominations for player of the week were Appalachian State's Katie Boyd, Elon's Caitlin McGowan, UNCG's Toni MacReynolds, Chattanooga's Tiffany Baker and Western Carolina's Haley Pace.

Also nominated for pitcher of the week were Appalachian State's Caitlin Wainright, Chattanooga's Michelle Fuzzard and Western Carolina's Katie King.
