Rain Postpones Furman-Presbyterian Softball Doubleheader
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Furman's softball doubleheader at Presbyterian College, scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, has been postponed due to inclement weather in the Clinton, S.C., area. The Paladins and Blue Hose have rescheduled the twinbill for May 5, with the first pitch set for 3 p.m.
After dropping two of three games in Southern Conference play at UNC Greensboro this past weekend, Furman has a week off before travelling to Georgia State next Wednesday for a 4 p.m. doubleheader. The Paladins return home to host College of Charleston in a three-game SoCon series April 9-10, at Pepsi Stadium.
Elon-N.C. A&T Softball Doubleheader Cancelled Due to Weather
ELON, N.C. - The Elon University softball team's doubleheader scheduled for today at 4 p.m. against N.C. A&T has been canceled due to rain. A make-up date has not been scheduled. Be sure to check the Elon softball schedule for further updates regarding a make-up date.
The Phoenix hosts Chattanooga this weekend on Saturday and Sunday at East Field. Elon and UTC will play a doubleheader on Saturday, with game one scheduled for 1 p.m. before closing out the three-game set on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Rain Keeps Appalachian State Softball Out of Action
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - Appalachian State University softball (11-16, 4-4 SoCon) started its first game of a scheduled doubleheader with East Tennessee State University (13-17), but persistant rain cancelled the games on Wednesday (March 30) at the ETSU Softball Stadium in Johnson City, Tenn.
The Mountaineers and Bucs did not complete the required innings for the contest to be counted as an official game, but ASU was down 3-0 in the top of the fifth inning and had started a rally on a double down the left field line by sophomore Sheridan Phillips before the rain made its appearance.
With rain still in the forecast, Appalachian returns to conference play, taking on College of Charleston in a three-game series at Sywassink/Lloyd Family Stadium on Saturday (April 2) at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and Sunday (April 3) at 1 p.m.
