FARMVILLE, Va. - The Mountaineers carded a 299 in Tuesday's final round at the Tina Barrett Longwood Invitational as Appalachian State University women's golf finished the event with a 310-299=609 (+33), good for third place. Sophomore Kristina Boo took fourth place with a 36-hole score of 75-72=147 (+3).
Yue Xu and Rumbidzai Masamvu tied for seventh place at 153 (+9) to help Appalachian's cause. Xu improved seven strokes between Monday and Tuesday with an 80-73 while Masamvu shot a consistent 75-78.
Kerri Dice placed 13th with an 80-76=156 (+12) and Samantha Patton rounded out the Apps in 22nd place at 87-89=176 (+32).
Competing as an individual, Samantha Bonham carded an 85-88=173 (+29) to finish 21st.
Host Longwood took home the team title at 588 (+12) while the Lancers' Amanda Steinhagen won the individual title by four strokes with a 140 (-4).
Appalachian competes in the Pinehurst Spring Invitational on April 4-5 in the final tune-up before the Southern Conference Tournament.
