SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Chattanooga's Tiffany Baker has been selected as the Southern Conference Softball Player of the Week, while College of Charleston's Alexa Datko has been honored as the Pitcher of the Week for all games March 21-27. The selections are made by the league office.

Baker, a senior from East Ridge, Tenn., helped lead the Lady Mocs to a two-game series sweep of Appalachian State in a rain-shorten weekend.  The Chattanooga third baseman notched her second two-homerun game in the opening contest against the Mountaineers, which included a grand slam and a two-run blast.  In the two games, Baker knocked in seven runs and slugged 1.800.  She also had an on-base percentage of .667.    Baker's six RBI in one game tied the conference's single-game high this season.

Datko, a senior at College of Charleston, made two appearances over the weekend, including a complete game no-hitter in the series opener against Georgia Southern.  The San Diego. Calif., native pitched 13.0 innings on the weekend and gave up just three runs while striking out 13 and walking only three hitters.  Datko posted a 1.62 ERA over the weekend.  This marks the second straight week the Cougar pitcher has been honored with the weekly award.

Also receiving nominations for player of the week were College of Charleston's Katie Forbes, Elon's Tomeka Watson, UNCG's Eileen Horsmon, Samford's Kayla Shaffer and Western Carolina's Morgan Wyatt.

Also nominated for pitcher of the week were Elon's Erin O'Shea, UNCG's Cory Mattson, Samford's Robyn Harmon and Chattanooga's Michelle Fuzzard.
