SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Appalachian State sophomore Yue Xu has been named the Southern Conference Women's Golfer of the Week for all competition from March 16-22.
Xu led wire-to-wire to claim the Low Country Intercollegiate title by five strokes this week, giving the 2010 SoCon champion her second career tournament win. Xu's 147 total ties the sixth-best 36-hole mark in ASU history. Both of the Beijing, China, native's rounds were her lowest of the spring season.
In addition to Xu's title, the Mountaineers claimed their first team championship since 2004 with a nine-stroke victory over second-place Samford. ASU claimed the top three golfers in the event as Xu was followed by teammates Kristina Boo and Rumbidzai Masamvu.
Other top performers this week were Western Carolina's Josefine Sundh, Elon's Virginia Mayer and Wofford's Alex Rankin.
