SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Western Carolina senior Nicole Okolo has been named Southern Conference Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week while Appalachian State freshman Cassie Crawford was named the SoCon Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for their performances for all meets, March 18-20. The selections are made by the league's track and field coaches.
Okolo, a Lawrenceville, Ga., native, ran a personal-best in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.84 at the UNCC 49er Classic. Her time placed her second place overall and currently leads the SoCon. At the meet in Charlotte, Okolo also competed in the 100m, 200m, 4 x 100m relay, 4 x 400m relay and the triple jump.
Crawford, a freshman from Apex, N.C., won the seeded section of the pole vault at the Wake Forest Open. Her mark of 12'9.5" places her second all-time in the Mountaineer record book and qualified her for the USA Track and Field Junior National Championships.

Appalachian State senior Chenel McFadden - Ran a SoCon leading 1:02.86 in the 400m hurdles at the Wake Forest Open.
College of Charleston junior Alyssa D'Orazio - Ran a school-record 2:15.30 in the 800m at the Shamrock Invitational.
Georgia Southern sophomore Ebony Carter - Ran personal-bests in the 100m and 200m with times of 11.95 and 24.82, respectively, at the Coastal Carolina Shamrock Invitational.
UNCG junior Ashley Schnell - Was the first collegiate finisher in the 1500m run with a UNCG record time of 4:30.10 at the Wake Forest Open.
College of Charleston freshman Christine Klinar - In only her second track and field meet ever, Klinar threw a school record 123'4" in the javelin.
Western Carolina senior Zakiyyah Stewart - Threw a personal-best and SoCon leading 144'4" in discus at the UNCC 49er Classic.
Wofford freshman Kaitlin Brown - Finished fourth in the high jump at the UNCC 49er Classic with a jump of 5'3".
