Seyrek Earns POW

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - UNCG junior Orcun Seyrek has been named the Southern Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for all matches played March 14-20.  Seyrek was a perfect 4-0 in singles and doubles play as the Spartans ran their record to 10-3 on the season with wins over Charlotte (5-2) and Davidson (5-2).  It is the second time this season Seyrek has won the award, after taking the Player of the Week honors on March 9.  The Player of the Week selections are made by the conference office.

Seyrek posted straight set victories at No. 1 singles for UNCG.  He began the week with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Charlotte's Charles Martin-Lecamp.  Seyrek then posted a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Davidson's Chris Mark.  He has won five of his last six singles matches and is 3-1 at the top spot in league play.

Teamed with Timion Meijs at No. 1 doubles, the Spartan's tandem came away with two wins last week.  UNCG's top doubles pair defeated Charlotte's Charles Martin-Lecamp and Moritz Bernhoerster, 8-4.  They then held off Davidson's Calum Gee and Joe Schafer, 8-2.  Seyrek and Meijs are 4-2 at No. 1 doubles for UNCG.

Other top performers in the Southern Conference included College of Charleston's Mickael Trintignac, The Citadel's David Orces, Elon's Chase Helpingstine, Furman's Sawyer Duncan, Georgia Southern's Juan Melian Puigventos, Samford's Zac Dunkle and Chattanooga's Roberto Vieira.
