GREENVILLE, S.C. - Cornell defeated Furman, 5-2, Monday afternoon in men's tennis action at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C.  Senior Sawyer Duncan and sophomore Andrew Mellow notched singles wins to score for the Paladins.  Duncan defeated Jonathan Jaklitsch, 7-6, 6-1, in the top singles match, and Mellow posted a 6-4, 6-2 win over Andy Gauthier at number two singles. 

Cornell recorded four singles wins, with Mirza Klis beating senior Andrei Chvetsov, 6-0, 6-4, at number three singles, and Evan Bernstein tallying a 6-4, 6-2 win over rookie Alex Christ in the fourth singles match-up.  Jeremy Feldman beat Tyler Droll, 6-3, 6-1, in the number five singles match, and Venkat Iyer came away with a 7-6, 6-3 victory over freshman Joel Cook at number six singles.

The Big Red swept the doubles matches, with Gauthier and Feldman teaming up for an 8-3 win over Duncan and Mellow in the top doubles match, and Jaklitsch and Bernstein defeating Christ and Cook, 8-1, in the second doubles match.  At number three doubles, Klis and Evan McElwain combined for an 8-5 victory over Chvetsov and Droll.

Furman (3-13, 1-1 SoCon) will play host to the College of Charleston Thursday at 3 p.m.
