SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Georgia Southern's Marie Fogle has been selected as the Southern Conference Softball Player of the Week, while College of Charleston's Alexa Datko has been honored as the Pitcher of the Week for all games March 14-20. The selections are made by the league office.

Fogle, a junior from Rincon, Ga., helped the Eagles to a 3-2 record on the week, including a three-game conference sweep of Western Carolina.  In the conference series, Fogle hit .636 with four home runs to increase her season total to 10.  Against the Catamounts, the Eagle centerfielder knocked in nine runs while scoring six runs herself.  In both games of the doubleheader, Fogle opened the game with a leadoff home run, her fourth and fifth leadoffs home runs of the season.  In the series finale, Fogle went long twice, including a third-inning grand slam that broke the game open.  It was Fogle's first multi-home run game of her career.

Datko, a senior at College of Charleston, made two appearances over the weekend, including a complete game shutout on Saturday against UNCG.  The San Diego. Calif., native pitched 8.1 innings on the weekend while giving up no runs on only two hits while striking out seven and walking none.  UNCG batters managed to hit just.074 against Datko as the Cougar pitcher had a perfect ERA on the week of 0.00.

Also receiving nominations for player of the week were Appalachian State's Megan Rembielak, College of Charleston's Carly Corthell, Elon's Carleigh Nester, UNCG's Kaitlin Merkt, Samford's Robyn Harmon and Chattanooga's Michelle Fuzzard.

Also nominated for pitcher of the week were Appalachian State's Hannah Dow, Georgia Southern's Brianna Streetman, UNCG's Cory Mattson, Samford's Kayla Burris and Chattanooga's Kandace Irwin.
