SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Tiffany Baker, a senior softball player at Chattanooga, has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for March 2, the league office announced today.
The East Ridge, Tenn., native holds a 3.70 GPA in health and human performance.
In the Frost Classic hosted by Chattanooga, Baker had a strong showing at the plate to help the Lady Mocs to a perfect 5-0 mark on the weekend. Baker hit two home runs with one double and accounted for four RBI. On the weekend, the Mocs' third baseman hit for a .726 average, .824 on-base percentage and a 1.364 slugging percentage. Chattanooga outscored their opponents 52-10 on the weekend to improve their record to 12-3 overall and extend their win streak to 11 games.
The Lady Mocs return to action this weekend when they travel Athens, Ga., to take part in the Bulldog Invitational.
Other nominees included The Citadel men's tennis player David Orces and Georgia Southern's men's golfer Logan Blondell.
