SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Samford was announced as a #14 seed when the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament field was announced on Monday evening.  The Bulldogs, which are in the tournament for the first time in school history, are scheduled to play Sunday at 5:00 p.m. in Auburn, Ala., against #3 seed Florida State.

Samford is in the Dallas Region with Baylor as the #1 seed.  Other teams playing in Auburn with the Bulldogs are #6 seed Georgia and #11 seed Middle Tennessee State.  The winners of the two first round games will meet on Tuesday, March 22.

Samford is 25-7 on the season and clinched the Southern Conference's automatic bid to the tournament by defeating Appalachian State in the championship game.  Samford is only in its third season in the SoCon and has won at least 22 games in each of those seasons.

The team gathered to watch the selection show at Hamburger Heaven in Homewood, Ala.
