Christine Wolf's Record Round Raises Mocs Lead at JMU/Eagle Landing Invitational
The senior posted 8 birdies shooting 66 to lead Chattanooga to best team round in two seasons
ORANGE PARK, Fla.---Senior Christine Wolf (Igls, Austria) vaulted to the top of the leaderboard shooting a school and tournament-record 66 (-6) in the second round of the JMU/Eagle Landing Invitational Saturday. Wolf's round included eight birdies as she paced Chattanooga's three-under par 285 and widening of its first round lead.
The Mocs' three-under par total is the second par or better round of the season, and second best all-time behind the final round 283 (-5) shot in this event two years ago. It gives UTC a record two-day total of 581 (+5) which is 13 shots clear of second-place East Carolina.
It was Wolf's day from the start. She opened with birdies on one and two before a bogey on three. She birdied five of seven holes from 5-11 to get to minus six. After a bogey on the par 3 16th, Wolf recorded birdie number eight on the par 5 17th for her 66.
The six-under par 66 breaks the school record of 68 set twice by teammate Emma de Groot (Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, Australia). It's her second round in the 60s this season after a 69 (-4) at the Kinderlou Forest Challenge 13 days ago. Wolf is at three-under par, 141, and carries a five-shot lead into tomorrow's final round.
She's not alone as five Mocs rank in the top 10, four playing for the team score. Her four-year teammate de Groot is tied for second with three others after a 70 (-2) today places her at plus two, 146.
Maria Juliana Loza (Bucaramanga, Colombia) is tied with a trio of golfers for sixth at three-over par 147. She is a mere stroke ahead of teammates Yushira Budhram (Johannesburg, South Africa) and Jordan Britt (Dayton, Tenn.) at four-over par 148.
Britt, playing as an individual, had the third-best round by a UTC student-athlete today with an even par 72. Marion Duvernay (Publier, France) is tied for 23rd after a plus two 74 has her at 150 (+6).
Only East Carolina at 13 back is within 20 shots of Chattanooga. UTC leads third-place Campbell by 22 and Miami (Fla.), USF and Illinois in fourth by 23.
The Mocs will be led off No. 1 by Duvernay at 9:28 a.m., playing with East Carolina and Campbell. She'll be followed by Budhram (9:36), Loza (9:44), de Groot (9:52) and Wolf (10:00). Britt will play with Valentina SanMiguel (James Madison) and Jordyn Wyzgowski (Illinois State) in the group just ahead of Duvernay at 9:20. Live scoring can be followed at GoMocs.com.

WHITTAKER PACES COUGARS AT LSU/CLEVELAND GOLF CLASSIC
BATON ROUGE, La. - The College of Charleston women's golf team carded a second-round score of 326 (+38) including a team-best five-over par 77 from junior Leigh Whittaker (Baden-Baden, Germany) after the second day of play at the LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic held Saturday at the University Club.
It marked Whittaker's second-straight day to pace the Cougars with a 77. She made up for three bogeys in the early portion of the round by playing even through all but one hole in the back nine. She is currently tied for 38th on the individual leaderboard.
The Cougars are among a tough 21-team field including 15 top 50-ranked programs, nine of which are currently in the top 25 and four in the top 10. Top-ranked and current team leader Alabama is tied with No. 26 Arkansas and No. 7 Virginia with a two-round score of 601 (+25).
CofC will close out tournament play tomorrow as the final round gets off to a shotgun start beginning at 9:30 a.m. (ET). Live scoring is available by CLICKING HERE <http://www.golfstatresults.com/public/index.cfm?tournament_id=2318> .

UNCG ninth in 18-team JMU Eagle Landing Invite
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Begonia Sarabia fired a 1-over-par 73 to lead the UNCG women's golf team in Saturday's second round of the 54-hole JMU Eagle Landing Invite. The Spartans began the day in a sixth-place tie finished it in ninth in the 18-team field.
Sarabia was one of four Spartans who improved upon their Friday scores, joining Erica Creed, Lizzie Bundy and Ana Lucia Martinez in that department. UNCG's team score of 305 represented a one-stroke improvement over Friday, but the team lost ground, relatively speaking. Chattanooga (581) owns a 13-stroke lead over East Carolina. The Spartans (611) are two up on the host team, James Madison, and 10 ahead of fellow Southern Conference member Elon.
Sarabia's round was her best since a season-opening 73 in the University of Florida's Lady Gator event last week.
Courtney Taylor, whose opening-round 71 was good for a second-place tie through 18 holes, shot a 77 on Saturday. She's still in the top 10 and seven shots behind the individual leader, Christine Wolf of Chattanooga.
Play concludes Sunday at the par-72, 6,282-yard design at the Eagle Landing Golf Club.
