SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The 2011 Southern Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship is set for Saturday and Sunday (February 26-27) at the Indoor Track Complex on the campus of Clemson University in Clemson, S.C.
It is the sixth consecutive year that the championship will be held at the 1,800-seat facility.
The championship will be begin Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with the women's pentathlon, followed by four of the men's heptathlon events at 10:15 a.m. The awards ceremony is tentatively set for Sunday at 4:40 p.m.

Appalachian State claimed the men's title last season while Western Carolina took home the women's championship. The Mountaineer men are seeking their third-straight and eighth championship since 2000. Western Carolina is looking to claim its third title in four years.
There are 13 student-athletes returning to this year's championship looking to defend their 2010 individual titles. On the men's side, Samford's Michael Seaman will seek to improve on his championship record pole vault leap of 5.07m set last year, and Appalachian State's Malcolm Styers will look to become the first three-time winner of the shot put since 1984 and the first-ever three-time winner in the 35-LB weight throw.
In the women's competition, Georgia Southern's Lynndsey Hyter will try to become the first female to win three conference championship heptathlon events in a row. In the mile run, Samford's Hillary Neal will look to become the first female athlete to win the event in three consecutive years. The only other female runner to win the event three-times was 2011 SoCon Hall of Fame inductee Shannon Wommack in 2003, 2004 and 2006.
In the most recent power rankings, which include meets through Feb. 20, Appalachian State leads in both the men's and women's standings, followed by Western Carolina. Samford is third in the rankings for the men while Georgia Southern is third for the women.
The rankings are determined by the top eight times or scores that are reported by the schools for each event that will be conducted at this weekend's championships.
