SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Samford junior Alex Richter and freshman Owen Wagoner have been named the Southern Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets during the weekend of Feb. 18 through Feb. 20.  The selections are made by the league's track and field coaches.

Richter, a sprinter from Cullman, Ala., ran the 200 meters at the Tiger Tune-Up in a time of 22.54.  His time placed him seventh in the competitive field.

Wagoner, a Fort Wayne, Ind., native, placed second in the pole vault behind teammate Michael Seaman at the Tiger Tune-Up.  The freshman pole vaulter jumped a career-best 4.90 meters (16' 0.75"), which places him third on the conference list and third in the all-time indoor Samford ranks.

Samford returns to the track this weekend for the Southern Conference Championship in Clemson, S.C., Feb. 26-27.
