Georgia Southern 6, #21 Georgia Tech 5
STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern won the series opener 6-5 over 21st-ranked Georgia Tech after Kevin Jacob gave up three straight walks in the bottom of the ninth, including a full-count walk to Victor Roache (Ypsilanti Mich.), scoring the game-winning run. A stadium record crowd of 3,088 witnessed the thriller at J.I. Clements Stadium.
The Eagles took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the fourth and held it until the top of the ninth when the Yellow Jackets took a 5-4 lead. Freshman Ben Morgan (Evans, Ga.) led off the bottom of the ninth with a hit and was sent to third base after a hard hit ball by Jesse Piccolo (Flagler Beach, Fla.) was missplayed by the shortstop. Jacob recorded back-to-back outs with runners on second and third and elected to intentionally walk Eric Phillips (Carrollton, Ga.) to load the bases. Steve Cochrane (Mooresville, N.C.) and Roache walk in back-to-back plate appearances to drive in the tying and winning runs.
Andy Moye (Alpharetta, Ga.) started the game at third base and legged out a base hit on a bunt down the third-base line for his first career hit. Moye also picked up the win on the mound, allowing two hits and a run in 2.2 innings of work. The senior captain recorded two strikeouts but was tagged with a tough run in the top of the ninth.
Tech's Brandon Thomas reached base on a double that was nearly caught by a ranging Phillips. The shortstop chased the ball all the way to the left field line and laid out in an attempt to make the out. Sam Dove moved Thomas over on a sacrifice bunt, before Jake Davies struck out looking. Kyle Wren drove in the run on another hit that was nearly caught by a jumping Piccolo at third base.
Georgia Tech left 15 runners on base and left the bases loaded in the first and third innings. Jarret Leverett (Eatonton, Ga.), who started the game for Georgia Southern, worked out of a jam in the first inning. The junior pitcher struck out two batters and coaxed a fly out to exit the inning without allowing a run.
The Eagles struck first in the contest scoring two runs in the second inning. Tom Richardson (Lilburn, Ga.) loaded the bases in the second inning after being hit by a pitch, and Moye plated the first run of the inning with a sacrifice fly. Morgan reloaded the bases after hitting the ball off the pitchers glove for an infield hit, but GSU was only able to score one more run on a balk called against the Yellow Jackets' starter Luke Bard.
Bard gave up four runs on six hits in 3.2 innings of work. He faced 20 batters, but struck out only two on 56 pitches. Dusty Isaacs was stellar out of the bullpen in relieve of Bard, allowing only one hit and no runs in 4.1 innings.
Georgia Southern tacked on two more runs in the fourth inning to take a 4-3 lead. Richardson doubled to left field and moved to second on a bunt hit by Moye. Morgan drove in the first run of the inning with a fielder's choice. Michael Burruss (Marietta, Ga.) drove in a two-out run with a single through the right side of the infield to give the Eagles a 4-3 lead, which they held until the Georgia Tech tied the game at 4-4 in the seventh inning.
The same two teams will meet again tomorrow at 4 p.m. at J.I. Clements Stadium. Georgia Southern will be back in action following the mid-week series on Friday at 6 p.m. against North Carolina Central.
Elon 13, High Point 10
HIGH POINT, N.C. -- The Elon Phoenix twice rallied on its way to a 13-10 non-league baseball victory over the High Point Panthers from Williard Stadium on Tuesday evening. The win was the third straight for the Phoenix which improved to 3-1 on the year while High Point fell to 0-5.
With the game tied at 10 in the ninth inning, Elon pushed across three runs, including the game-winner which was balked in. In the bottom of the frame, Thomas Girdwood came on and slammed the door shut to earn his first save of the year.
Ryan Retz gave High Point the lead in the bottom of the first by belting a 1-2 pitch over the fence in right with two outs.
The Panthers kept the pressure up in the second as Zach Tessier led the frame off with a walk ahead of a Mike Gragilla single. After a sacrifice bunt advanced the runners to second and third, Murray White IV's single hit off the umpire. By rule, neither of the other two runners were allowed to advance. An infield fly tallied the second out, but Sal Pezzino added to the High Point lead with a two-RBI single to left that plated both Tessier and Gragilla. Elon looked like it would be out of the inning when Retz sent a fly ball to left that was dropped and allowed White to cross the plate with the fourth HPU run of the game.
Elon got on the board in the third inning. Jake Luce led off with a double down the left field line and went to third on Niko Fraser's bloop single to right-center. Alex Swim's grounder to first brought home Luce and advanced Fraser to second as the Phoenix cut its deficit to 4-1.
Harry Austin started the Elon half of the fifth off by being hit by a pitch and going to third on a hit-and-run single off the bat of Luce. Austin then scored to make it 4-2 on a safety squeeze from Fraser. Swim loaded the bases with his infield single, forcing the Panthers to go to the bullpen. Ryan Kinsella followed with a grounder to third and the Panthers threw home, but the catcher was not on the plate when making the catch so Luce scored to make it 4-3. The Phoenix then moved in front 5-4 on Seth Canipe's single through the left side of the infield which drove home both Fraser and Swim. The Phoenix loaded the bags back up when Grant McCoury drew a walk. HPU went to the pen again and the third Panther hurler of the frame promptly walked Cyle Rasmus to force home Kinsella with the fifth run of the inning. Canipe came home with the seventh Elon run on a Garrett Koster ground ball that erased Rasmus for the first out of at bat. A wild pitch sent Koster to second before Austin was hit for the second time in the fifth to fill the bases once again. Luce drew another bases-loaded walk to force McCoury home as the Phoenix built an 8-4 advantage. Yet another walk with the bags full, this one to Fraser, brought home Koster with the ninth tally. Elon made it 10-4 on Swim's single to left that plated Austin.
High Point's half of the sixth began with singles from Tessier and Mike Gessinger around a walk to Gragilla to load the bases. White followed with an infield single to score Tessier. The Panthers made it a 10-6 game when Mike Mercurio singled to center to drive home Gragilla. Pezzino's soft single to left scored another as Gessinger crossed the plate and pulled HPU within three at 10-7. Retz picked up a RBI on a ground out to short as White raced home. The Panthers closed the gap to 10-9 on a ground out off the bat of Steve Antolik when Mercurio scored. With the tying run on third, Jared Kernodle got Joe Mahoney to strike out looking to end the threat.
White started the Panther eighth with a double to the gap in right-center before Mercurio's bunt single put runners on the corners for Pezzino. With Mercurio in motion, Pezzino grounded a ball to short and was retired, but HPU tied the game as White scored.
Elon responded by having Koster reach on a dropped pop up to start the ninth. After a passed ball moved Koster to second, Austin lined a double to left to put runners on second and third. The Phoenix regained the lead thanks to a balk that let Koster score. The balk was immediately followed by a wild pitch to bring home Austin as the Elon built a 12-10 lead. Pinch-hitter Neal Pritchard singled off the Panther third baseman and went to second when the ball was thrown away at first. With pinch-runner David Wood on second, Swim grounded a ball to short that was also thrown away at first, allowing Wood to score Elon's 13th run and Swim to end up on second.
Three Elon players - Luce, Fraser and Swim - all had two-hit games while Fraser, Swim and Canipe all drove in two runs for the Phoenix. Austin scored three times during his 1-for-2 performance.
Pezzino drove in four runs with a 2-for-5 day to lead the Panthers.
Kernodle (1-1) was the winner after allowing six runs on seven hits in three innings. Girdwood walked one, but did not allow a hit in the ninth.
Freshman David Whitehead was solid in his first collegiate start for the Phoenix, lasting five innings and allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits.
Kyle Wigmore (0-2) took the loss and surrendered two runs on a hit in two innings out of the bullpen.
#19 College of Charleston 5, UNC Wilmington 4
MT. PLEASANT, S.C. - Senior RHP Robert Jeroszko (Greenville, S.C.) struck out a career-high seven batters and redshirt-junior 1B Jose Rodriguez (Hialeah, Fla.) knocked in the winning run with the bases loaded in the 12th inning as #19 College of Charleston defeated UNC Wilmington 5-4 Tuesday evening at Patriots Point. The Cougars remain undefeated at 4-0 on the season and UNCW falls to 1-3.
Senior CF Cole Rakar (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.) reached on a fielding error to lead off the 12th and advanced to second on a failed pickoff attempt. Rakar moved to third on a groundout to second by freshman LF Brandon Murray (Nassau, Bahamas) and UNCW intentionally walked junior RF Marty Gantt (North Augusta, S.C.) and Redshirt-junior 3B Matt Leeds (Boca Raton, Fla.) to load the bases and set up Rodriguez's 1-1 count heroics.
UNCW jumped to a 1-0 lead in the second inning as Andrew Cain reached on a fielding error by Rodriguez and Hunter Ridge doubled to left, putting runner at second and third. With one out, Cameron Cockman drove home a run with a RBI groundout to short and a 1-0 Seahawk lead.
The Cougars knotted the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the third frame on a sacrifice fly to center by redshirt-freshman LF Daniel Aldrich (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.). After three straight base on balls were issued by UNCW starter Ryan Leach, Aldrich lofted a 0-2 pitch to deep center to score Gantt from third.
In the sixth, CofC plated a pair of runs to grab a 3-1 lead. Senior 2B Jesse Mesa (Mirimar, Fla.) was hit by a pitch and back-to-back singles by senior SS Jamie Holler (Rock Hill, S.C.) and redshirt-freshman C Jimmy Holton (West Palm Beach, Fla.) to load the bases for the top of the order. Rakar hit into a fielder's choice and redshirt-junior Rob Kral (Randolph, N.J.) struck out before Gantt ripped a two-out single up the middle to score Holler and Holton.
The Seahawks rallied to score a single run in the seventh and took a 4-3 lead with two runs in the eighth. Pinch-hitter David Shambley roped a RBI single down the left-field line to cut the Cougars' lead to 3-2 and Cockman drilled a two-run double down the right-field line to give UNCW a 4-3 lead. Leeds knotted the score at 4-4 in the bottom of the eighth with a RBI single up the middle that scored Kral from second.
Sophomore RHP Matt Pegler (Greenville, S.C.) earned the win for the Cougars, tossing the 12th inning and recording one strikeout. Holler finished with three hits for CofC.
The Cougars host Horizon League member Youngstown State for a three-game series starting Friday, Feb. 25 at Patriots Point. First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m.; while Saturday and Sunday are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. starts.
Appalachian State 7, Gardner-Webb 0
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - Behind 6.1 scoreless innings from junior Ryan Arrowood (Rutherfordton, N.C./Central), Appalachian State University baseball recorded its third shutout of the young season, a 7-0 blanking of Gardner-Webb on Tuesday in the inaugural game at GWU's John Henry Moss Stadium.
Pitching less than 25 miles southeast of his hometown of Rutherfordton, N.C., Arrowood (1-0) surrendered just three hits, struck out six, walked none and never allowed a runner to advance past second base. The right-hander retired the final six batters he faced and needed just 79 pitches to work into the seventh inning and earn his first victory of the season.
Will Helms (Charlotte, N.C./Providence) and Taylor Miller (Raleigh, N.C./Wakefield) finished off the shutout by combining for 2.2 innings of two-hit relief.
Appalachian's offense struggled for six innings, pushing only one run across while stranding seven on base through the first six stanzas. However, ASU exploded for two runs in the seventh and four in the eighth to put the game out of reach.
Tyler Tewell (Charlotte, N.C./Butler) led the Mountaineers' 14-hit attack, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and run scored. Tyler Zupcic (Charlotte, N.C./Providence) went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored and Jeremy Dowdy (Raleigh, N.C./Wakefield) and Jack Myers (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) chipped in with two hits apiece.
Despite the late-inning offensive onslaught, the story of the day, as it has been throughout the first week of the season, was Appalachian's pitching. ASU (4-0) has three recorded three shutouts in its first four games for the first time in school history (complete results date back to 1955) and its staff boasts a miniscule 0.50 ERA and .187 opponents' batting average.
Cleanup hitter Jake Watts recorded two of the five hits for Gardner-Webb (3-2), which was coming off of winning 3-of-4 games at The Citadel Memorial Challenge in Charleston, S.C. last weekend. The three triumphs included a pair of one-run wins over tournament host and defending Southern Conference regular-season and tournament champion The Citadel.
The Mountaineers face their stiffest tests of the young season this weekend when they travel for a three-game series at No. 20 Miami (Fla.). Game times versus the four-time national champions are set for 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday at Miami's Alex Rodriguez Park.
Samford 14, Alabama A&M 1
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford baseball team plated 11 runs in the first inning on its way to a 14-1, seven-inning win over Alabama A&M Tuesday evening at Joe Lee Griffin Field.
Six Samford pitchers saw time on the mound. Lex Rutledge (1-0) earned the win, pitching an inning, allowing no hits and striking out three batters.Josh Martin, Nick Calloway, Sean Handlan, Grant Sides and Phillip Ervin all pitched for the Bulldogs in the win as well.
"I'm really happy with our pitching tonight," Samford head coach Casey Dunn said. "All of our guys threw strikes tonight and we only had one walk."
Tommy Corbin and Saxon Butler each went 2-for-2 with two RBI to lead Samford at the plate. Garner Richey hit a three-run home run in a 1-for-2 performance. Christiaan Durdaller also drove in three runs, going 1-for-3 at the plate.
For Alabama A&M, Justin Watts (0-1) pitched a third of inning, giving up eight runs, only five earned, on four hits to take the loss. James Brown had Alabama A&M's lone RBI, going 0-for-3 at the plate.
In the 11-run first inning, Samford sent 16 batters to the plate. Durdaller drove in three runs in the inning, while Corbin and Butler had two RBI each in the inning. Kevin Putkonen, Brad Moss and Michael Johnson drove in a run each in the first inning.
Alabama A&M put its lone run on the scoreboard in the top of the third inning. Brown reached base on a fielder's choice to drive in Juan Lopez, who had singled earlier in the inning.
Samford added three more runs in the bottom of the third inning to finish the scoring at 14-1. Richey hit a home run to left field with Corbin and Brandon Miller on base to give Samford a 13-run lead.
With the win, Samford improves to 4-0 on the season. Alabama A&M drops to 0-4 with the loss.
Samford and Alabama A&M will play again Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Joe Lee Griffin Field.
UNC Asheville 3, UNCG 0
GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNCG pitching staff allowed just three hits all afternoon, but UNC Asheville took advantage those hits and a pair of errors as the Spartans fell to the Bulldogs, 3-0, on Tuesday afternoon at the UNCG Baseball Stadium.
David Ricker picked up his first win of the season for the Bulldogs (4-0) after coming in to pitch 2 2/3 innings of one-hit relief to pick record the win. He also struck out five batters on the day.
Pete Schultz was credited with his second loss of the season for UNCG (2-2) after allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits in just a third of an inning of work. Brandon Browne got the start for the Spartans and pitch four no-hit innings to start the game.
Tommy Houmard and Catlin Carter each had one hit and a run scored for the Bulldogs, while Danny Baatz and Patrick Koontz collected the only two RBI for UNC Asheville.
Drew Gehringer led the Spartans, who were only able to muster six hits themselves, at the plate as he recorded a pair of hits on the day. Chris Barker was hit by a pitch twice in the game to run his season total up to four already this season. Last year, Barker ranked fourth nationally after being hit by a pitch 26 times throughout the season.
UNCG looked like it would get on the board first in the bottom of the third as Gehringer had a two-out single up the middle to start things off. Barker was then hit by a pitch and Bobby Martin drew a walk to load the bases, but the Bulldogs got a strikeout to end the threat and keep the game scoreless.
After Browne was relieved by Schultz to start the top of the fifth, the Bulldogs jumped on the relief pitcher. With one out, Houmard singled to right field for the first Bulldog hit of the afternoon and Carter followed with a single through the left side. Jordan Lurie followed with a perfect bunt single down the third base line to load the bases.
Zach Furl then came in to relieve Schultz and induced what might have been an inning-ending double play ball, but the shortstop bobbled the ball and all runners were safe to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. Koontz was then hit by a pitch later in the inning to give UNC Asheville a 2-0 lead through five innings of play.
The Spartans threatened again in the bottom of the seventh as they loaded the bases again. Eric Brindle led off with a single to right center and after a pair of strikeouts; Barker was hit by a pitch to put two runners on base. Martin followed with a walk to load the bases, but once again the Bulldogs came up with a huge strikeout to get out of the jam.
UNC Asheville would go on to tack on another run in the top of the eighth on another Spartan error to push its lead to 3-0.
The Spartans return to the diamond this weekend as they host Cleveland State for a three-game series beginning on Friday at 4 p.m. at the UNCG Baseball Stadium.
Wake Forest 2, Western Carolina 1 (10 inn.)
Winston-Salem, N.C. - Wake Forest capitalized on a combined three errors in the bottom of the ninth and tenth innings to rally past Western Carolina, 2-1, on Tuesday night in nonconference action at Gene Hooks Field at Wake Forest Baseball Park.
With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, clinging to a 1-0 lead amidst swirling winds in the outfield, the Catamounts dropped a two-out fly ball that would have ended the game. Wake Forest's Brett Armour, who was aboard after drawing a two-out walk, was able to circle the base paths to record the game-tying run.
In the 10th, a catcher's interference put a runner aboard which was later erased in a bases-loaded throw to home, but WCU could not overcome an additional error that eventually allowed shortstop Pat Blair to draw an RBI walk to score pinch hitter Ryan Lloyd with the game-winning run.
WCU senior Matt Benedict struck out eight in six innings of scoreless, two-hit action in his first start of the season, exiting with a 1-0 lead. Relievers Andrew Chilcoat fanned two of the seven batters he faced in an inning and a third of relief with Brandon Johnson summonsed in the eighth, tallying a strikeout and groundout to end the frame in the inning and two thirds he worked.
Johnson was tagged with an unearned run when the dropped fly ball fell in centerfield, finishing with four walks and two strikeouts.
Junior reliever Kyle Stewart (0-1) was saddled with the tough-luck loss after allowing one hit out of the bullpen.
Senior third baseman Austin Schultz legged out an inning-opening double in the sixth inning as Western Carolina (3-1) climbed on top in the frame. As it turned out, it was the only extra base hit of the game. Matt Johns moved his classmate to third on a fly ball to right with Ross Heffley driving in his team-leading 10th run of the season on a single through the left side. Tyler White, who finished 2-for-4 to pace the squad, followed Heffley's single with a hit of his own, but a double-play ended the threat with WCU holding a 1-0 lead.
WCU out-hit Wake Forest, 8-to-4, but five total errors and nine walks against none by the Deacons proved to be the difference makers.
Wake Forest (1-3) reliever Michael Dimock earned the win, tossing two innings of one-hit relief, facing the minimum number of batters. Starter Zach White allowed just the one earned run on seven hits while a combined three Demon Deacon relievers tossed four and two-thirds innings of one-hit relief.
Western Carolina returns home this weekend for a three-game nonconference series against Manhattan at Childress Field / Hennon Stadium. First pitch on Friday is set for 4:00 pm, with a change to Saturday's start time as the game has been moved to 12:00 pm. The series will wrap-up with a 2:00 pm start on Sunday afternoon.
Charleston Southern 5, Furman 3
GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Derek Smith's solo home run in the seventh inning fractured a 3-3 tie and helped lead Charleston Southern to a 5-3 victory over Furman in baseball action Tuesday afternoon at CSU Ballpark.
The win evened Charleston Southern's record at 2-2 on the year while Furman fell to 4-1.
With Furman leading 3-2, Charleston Southern's Brantley Meier singled off Paladin reliever Stephen Gary to open the seventh, advanced to second on a sacrifice, then stole third and scored on a throwing error by Paladin catcher Dylan Cole to tie the game at 3-3. After a fly out, Smith put the Buccaneers ahead for good with a solo home run off Drake Browne, who came on for Gary. CSU made it 5-3 on a Walt Quattlebaum RBI single following a Matt Still triple.
Furman failed to counter in the eighth, and CSU's Corey Deighan, after surrendering a hit batsman and single in the ninth, managed to end the threat by striking out Will Muzika for the second out and getting an accurate throw from catcher Drew Woodall to nail the Paladins' J.B. Jenkins on a steal attempt at third base.
A pair of Furman errors in the first inning helped stake the Buccaneers to a 2-0 lead. Meier reached on a throwing error to lead off, moved to second on a second miscue, and to third on a wild pitch before trotting home on Nick Chinners' two-run home run off Furman starter Brian Dudzinski.
The Paladins got on the board in the second on a Rob Fondu RBI-single that plated Will Miller.
It remained 2-1 until the sixth when Furman took the lead with a pair of runs. Taylor Johnson scored on a wild pitch to tie it at 2-2, and Fondu drove home Miller with a two-out, double off the Buccaneers' Ali Williams to give the Paladins a 3-2 advantage.
CSU's three-run seventh made a winner of Anthony Markham (1-0), who worked two scoreless innings, and Deighan notched the save.
Browne (0-1) took the loss after yielding two runs on three hits in a 2/3 on an inning.
Both teams banged out nine hits, with two of Charleston Southern's leaving the yard. Meier, Smith, and Quattlebaum had two hits each for the Buccaneers.
Miller paced Furman with a 2-for-3, two-run performance. Fondu went 2-for-3 with two-RBI, and Thompkins and Muzika also collected two hits apiece for the Paladins.
Furman plays at Georgia on Wednesday in a 5:00 p.m. game.
Presbyterian 6, Davidson 1
CLINTON, S.C. - Sophomore third baseman Andrew Barna hit a solo home run in the fourth inning but it was all the scoring the Davidson Wildcats would get in their 6-1 loss to the Presbyterian Blue Hose Tuesday afternoon at the PC Baseball Complex in Clinton, S.C.
Barna batted 2-for-4, the only Davidson (2-3) player with multiple hits. The Wildcats finished with six hits, including one each from sophomore second baseman Jack McLindon, junior first baseman Drew Gadaire, senior designated hitter Will General and sophomore shortstop Michael Zeblo.
Center fielder Gabe Grammer batted 2-for-5 to lead Presbyterian (4-0), driving in a pair on a two-run home run in the eighth. First baseman Kenny Bryant also had a pair of the Blue Hose' nine hits.
Presbyterian's RHP Chandler Knox (1-0) earned his first win of the season, allowing just one run on five hits and striking out seven in 7 2/3 innings.
Freshman right-hander Danny Mooney (1-1) took the loss for Davidson, allowing four runs (two earned) on six hits and striking out four in five innings.
McLindon got the Wildcats off on the right track with a leadoff double into the gap in left, but Knox retired the next three hitters to get out of the inning. The Blue Hose also got their leadoff guy aboard, as Grammer got an infield single and moved around to third on catcher Nate Horton's two out base hit. Mooney's first strikeout of the game left runners on second and third and kept the game scoreless.
The Wildcats had something going in the second as General, who was hit by a pitch, took second on Barna's infield single. Zeblo successfully sacrificed the pair over a base, but Knox got left fielder Forrest Brandt to pop up and struck out freshman catcher Daniel Gerow to end the inning.
The Blue Hose got on the scoreboard in the bottom half, scoring two on two hits and two Davidson errors. Bryant led off with a single through the left side, and left fielder Mack Hite reached safely on a catcher's interference. Third baseman Taylor Hill sacrificed both a base, and second baseman John Wagner cleared the bases with a single down the right field line. Grammer reached on an error, but Mooney used his third strikeout and a fly out to get out of another jam.
Davidson sent the minimum to the plate in the third, and Presbyterian pushed its lead to 4-0 with a pair of runs on two hits and an error in the bottom half. Horton drew a leadoff walk and moved to second when right fielder Tony Micklon singled to third. Senior right fielder Sam Payne had some trouble with Bryant's base hit to right, allowing Horton to score, and Hite's sacrifice fly made it 4-0.
Barna hit a two-out, solo shot in the fourth to put the 'Cats on the board, but Knox retired seven straight Wildcats before Payne drew a two-out walk in the sixth. Senior Andy Bass took over for Mooney to start the bottom of the sixth and allowed just one hit over two shutout innings, but Davidson would scatter just three hits and strand five over the final five innings.
Presbyterian added its final runs on Grammer's two-out homerun in the eighth, also scoring Hite, who reached safely on an error to start the inning.
Davidson will host Ohio, Lafayette and Lehigh for four games this week. The Wildcats open their weekend with a 6 p.m. game against Ohio Friday night. Davidson plays a doubleheader against Lafayette (1:30 p.m.) and Lehigh (5 p.m.) Saturday, and concludes the weekend with a 1 p.m. game against Lafayette Sunday.
