SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Elon senior guard Chris Long has been named the Southern Conference Player of the Week for all games played February 15-21 the league office announced Tuesday (Feb. 22). Long recorded his third career double-double with a career-best 30 points and 10 assists as Elon defeated UNCG, 99-90 Saturday night. The Player of the Week selections are made by the league office
Playing in his final game at Alumni Gym, Long was 10-of-14 from the field, including 5-of-8 from three-point range. He was a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line and poured in 22 of his 30 points in the second half. His ten assists tied his season high that was set on January 17 against Appalachian State.
The Charleston, W. Va., native moved into sixth place on Elon's single-season assists ledger (163) and moved past the 500-assist plateau for his career (504). He currently ranks 10th in the Southern Conference with 14.3 points per game and leads the league with 6.0 assists per contest.
Elon (12-15, 6-10 SoCon) will visit Davidson Thursday night with tip off set for 7:00 p.m. at Belk Arena.
