SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Samford guard Emily London has been named the Southern Conference women's basketball player of the week for all games played February 15-21.
The senior from Lexington, Ky., averaged 25.0 points per game last week as the Bulldogs closed out its regular season slate with road wins over Elon and UNCG. London accounted for 33 points against Elon, and then came back against UNCG with 17 points. Over the two games, London shot an impressive 9-for-11 (.818) from behind the arc and 13-15 (.867) from the free-throw line. She also pulled down seven rebounds and distributed three assists for the week.
It is the second time this season London was been selected as the Player of the Week, as she also took the honor on Dec. 14.
Samford will wait for its opponent in the Southern Conference tournament in Chattanooga, Tenn., March 3-7. The Bulldogs have clinched the No. 2 seed by virtue of closing out the conference season with a 15-5 record.
Other top performers in the week of play were Chattanooga's Kayla Christopher, College of Charleston's Janae Smith, Davidson's Laura Murray, Elon's Ali Ford, Furman's Kaitlin Murphy, Georgia Southern's Krista Tate, UNCG's Janae' Stevenson, Western Carolina's Kaila'Shea Menendez and Wofford's April Moorhouse.
