SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Samford's Zac Dunkle has been named the Southern Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for all matches played February 14-20. The Bulldogs picked up a 7-0 non-conference win over Belmont Saturday afternoon. The Player of the Week selections are made by the conference office.
Dunkle earned a straight-sets victory over Belmont's Rafael Matos at the No. 2 position, 6-0, 6-4. He teamed with fellow sophomore Alexander Sajonz at the No. 2 doubles position and came away with an 8-6 victory over the Bruins' Bruno Silva and Jonathan Murrell.
Originally from Atlanta, Ga., Dunkle is 4-1 in singles competition this season. He and Sajonz are 5-0 at No. 2 doubles for the Bulldogs.
Other top performers in the Southern Conference included Appalachian State's Alain Humblet, The Citadel's David Orces, Davidson's Chris Mark, UNCG's Ahmet Sarioglu, and Wofford's Alan Donald.
