Kelsey Evans Named Women's Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Elon forward Kelsey Evans has been selected the Southern Conference women's basketball player of the week for all games played January 25-31.

The sophomore from Raleigh, N.C., helped lead the Phoenix to a 2-1 record on the week while averaging 15.0 points and 11.3 rebounds.  In the midweek nonconference showdown against Southern Virginia, Evans notched her first double-double of the week with 11 points and 12 rebounds.  Against Western Carolina, Evans had a career day with a career-high 24 points on 9-for-13 shooting.  She was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line.  Evans also grabbed 15 rebounds in the contest to lead Elon to a 27-point victory, the largest margin of victory over a conference opponent since joining the SoCon.  Evans recorded her fifth five-block game of the season while finishing with 10 points and seven rebounds in the loss to Davidson.

Evans currently leads the SoCon in rebounding with 9.4 per game and is ranked second in the league in blocks with 2.2 per contest.
