Eight Southern Conference standouts were included on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's (NSCAA) Men's Division I All-South team that was released on Friday.
Furman led the way with four selections, including three on the first team. SoCon Co-Player of the Year Coleton Henning was joined on the first team by goalkeeper Alec Kann and conference Freshman of the Year Walker Zimmerman. Furman's three first-teamers were second only to Final Four participant North Carolina (four), and the Paladins joined the Tar Heels as the only schools with multiple first-team honorees.
Appalachian State defender Lee Williams, who was a key performer in the Mountaineers' 10-5-4 season, was also chosen to the first team.
Georgia Southern forward Luigi Clendening, the league's leading scorer in 2011 and Co-Player of the Year along with Henning, was tabbed to the second team.
Davidson defender Greg Macnamara earned second team honors as did forwards Martin Ontiveros of Furman and Hakan Ilhan of UNCG.
