SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Davidson's Jake Cohen has been named the Southern Conference Player of the Week for all games played November 29 through December 5 the league office announced Tuesday (Dec. 6).  The Berwyn, Pa., native averaged 21.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and made 75 percent of his field goal attempts as Davidson beat Wofford (72-69) and Furman (86-65) last week.

Cohen began the week with 26 points and five rebounds as Davidson held on to top Wofford Thursday night.  The junior tallied 16 points and seven rebounds against Furman.  Cohen made 12-of-16 field goal attempts on the week and was 16-of-18 from the free throw line.

A forward, Cohen ranks second in the league in blocked shots (1.7 bpg) and is fourth in free throw percentage (.875).  He has pulled down 2.6 offensive rebounds per game, the seventh-best mark in the conference.

The Wildcats (6-1) host Vanderbilt Wednesday night at Belk Arena.

Other top performers in the Southern Conference included Appalachian State's Omar Carter, College of Charleston's Andrew Lawrence, The Citadel's Mike Groselle, Elon's Jack Isenbarger, Georgia Southern's Eric Ferguson, UNCG's Trevis Simpson, Chattanooga's Ricky Taylor, Samford's Tyler Hood, Western Carolina's Harouna Mutombo and Wofford's Kevin Giltner.
