STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern Eagle slugger Victor Roache garnered First Team Preseason All-American honors by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association after leading the NCAA in home runs with 30 a year ago. The junior outfielder was tabbed earlier in the preseason as one of the top-10 draft prospects by MLB.com.

Roache hit .326 with 84 RBIs to go along with his 30 dingers. Joining the Ypsilanti, Mich., native on the preseason All-America list from the Southern Conference was Daniel Aldrich from the College of Charleston.

The two squads will meet for a three-game series at J.I. Clements Stadium on March 30th - April 1st. The season and home opener for the Eagles is set for February 17th at 6 p.m. Tickets for the 2012 baseball season will go on sale in mid-January the Georgia Southern Athletic Ticket Office.

Daniel Aldrich Named To NCBWA Preseason All-America First Team

WICHITA, Kan. - College of Charleston outfielder Daniel Aldrich was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Preseason All-America First Team, the organization announced Wednesday.

Last season, Aldrich earned Freshman Player of the Year honors from the NCBWA, Southern Conference and Collegiate Baseball while making the All-American squads from Louisville Slugger, Baseball America, NCBWA, ABCA/Rawlings and the CBI.

A redshirt-sophomore, Aldrich led all Division I freshmen with 22 home runs in 2011 while blasting 73 RBIs and boasting a slugging percentage of .739. He finished with 25 multi-hit games and sported a team-best 17-game hitting streak in February and March. Aldrich won the 2011 TD Ameritrade Home Run Derby in Omaha, Neb., last summer.

Hailing from Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Aldrich was one of two Southern Conference players, joining Georgia Southern's Victor Roache, to make the organization's preseason All-America first team.
