SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford’s Paige Anderson was named the women’s basketball player of the week for December 13, the league office announced today. This is the second time this season, Anderson has earned the honor.
Anderson scored a team-high 17 points in Samford’s 61-55 win over Tennessee Tech. The 5’7” senior guard was a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line, which helped secure the win in the final minutes Saturday.
Anderson shot 57 percent from the floor and recorded five rebounds Saturday. She leads Samford in scoring (11.7 ppg), defensive rebounds (3.6 rpg) and three-point field goals made (1.6).
The Spring Garden, Ala., native and the rest of the Samford (5-4, 0-2) team will return to conference action on Saturday, as they host Western Carolina before traveling to No. 8 Kentucky on Wednesday.
Other top performers this week were Appalachian State’s Catherine Williams, Georgia Southern’s MiMi DuBos, UNCG’s Jazz Weaver, Chattanooga’s Kylie Lambert and Wofford’s April Moorhouse.
