The Southern Conference, along with the Asheville CVB, SoCon Basketball Championships Local Organizing Committee and JB Media Group will be providing an exciting opportunity for the students of SoCon member institutions. The Southern Conference Basketball Tournament is the oldest in the nation and we would like to give our schools' students the opportunity to be a part of it.
We will be launching the Southern Conference Basketball Blogging contest on December 1, 2011. The Southern Conference Basketball Blogging Contest is designed to encourage students to share their basketball enthusiasm, knowledge, and team-spirit with a local and national audience. Ultimately this contest should provide a dynamic, interactive, community-building experience for sports fans.
A grand prize will be awarded to each of the two people who submit the best blog series as determined by the judges in accordance with the Official Rules. The Grand Prize winners will be named the official bloggers for the Southern Conference Men's and Women's Basketball Championships and will continue blogging for the Southern Conference during the tournament in Asheville, NC, beginning March 2 with the first tipoff at 11:30 a.m. and concluding March 5 after the men's championship game. Additional prizes will be awarded to the two runner-ups. A full description of the prizes is attached below.
We are inviting full-time students from all of the Southern Conference member institutions to enter. This is an opportunity for students to get involved with their teams, hone their writing skills, gain multimedia experience, add to their resumes and have fun!
