SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Elon’s Celia Eddy, Furman’s Carolyn Nicoletti and College of Charleston’s Sloane White have been named the Southern Conference Offensive, Defensive and Freshman Volleyball Players of the Week, respectively, the league office announced today.

Eddy led the Elon offense over the weekend with 12 kills on 15 attempts with no errors to hit .800. The middle blocker tallied a career-high 11 kills off 13 attempts, hitting .846 in Elon’s win over Chattanooga.

The junior from Gulf Breeze, Fla., averaged three kills per set and recorded seven total blocks.

Nicoletti has been named the Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. The senior defensive specialist leads all Furman players with 391 digs, while ranking second on the team with 21 service aces.

The Chesterfield, Mo., native recorded 58 digs in the Paladins three matches last week.

For the fifth time this season, Sloane White has been tabbed the Freshman Volleyball Player of the Week. The right-side hitter tallied 20 kills over the weekend for the Cougars, had five service aces, three blocks and five digs.

The Indianapolis native made 10 kills against Furman and Wofford.

Nominated for Offensive Player of the Week was Alison Blasingame (Appalachian State), Rachael Farrell (The Citadel), Kelly Kolich (College of Charleston), Ariel Ley (Davidson), Caroline Adams (Furman), Meredith Paskert (Georgia Southern), Ariel Newman (UNCG), Lauren Hutchinson (Samford), Heather Parman (Chattanooga), and Caitlin Piechota (Western Carolina).

 Nominated for Defensive Player of the Week was Courtney Rhein (Appalachian State), Rachael Farrell (The Citadel), Emily Shelton (College of Charleston), Molly Crenshaw (Davidson), Caroline Lemke (Elon), Moriah Bellissimo (Georgia Southern), Kellie Orewiler (UNCG), and Carrie Minogue (Western Carolina).

Nominated for Freshmen of the Week was Amanda Rudnik (The Citadel), Vicky Harley (UNCG), Melissa Green (Chattanooga) and Caitlin Piechota (Western Carolina).
