BUIES CREEK - Campbell University defeated Davidson College 39-6 and South Dakota State University 23-15 on Friday night at the Pope Convocation Center to improve to 3-2 overall on the season, 1-0 in the Southern Conference.

John Weakley finished the night with two pins, the fastest coming against Davidson's Ed Isola in 1:19. His pin against South Dakota State's Nick Mart gave the Camels a 20-15 lead going into the heavyweight finale. Joe Nolan would finish the SDSU match off with a 6-1 decision victory to secure the win over the Jackrabbits.

James Cook continued his unbeaten streak, moving to 5-0 on the season with a 9-3 decision over Davidson's Ian Solcz and a 10-2 major decision over South Dakota State's Joe Rasmussen. Nick Rex also finished the day with two wins, earning a 19-6 major decision over Wildcat grappler Tyler Mullen and a 17-3 major decision over SDSU's Troy Morisette.

The Fighting Camels will be back in action Nov. 26 when the team travels to Bloomington, Ind. to take part in the Hoosier Duals. Campbell will wrestle Northern Illinois, SIU-Edwardsville and Indiana on the afternoon, with the SIUE match being a SoCon showdown. Results are below:

Davidson Wrestling Defeated by Campbell, South Dakota State at Campbell Duals

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - The Davidson wrestling team was defeated in its first two dual meets of the season, as new Southern Conference member and meet host Campbell won, 39-6 and non-conference foe South Dakota State won, 35-12 Friday night at the Pope Convocation Center.

Sophomore Scott Patrick led Davidson (0-2, 0-1 SoCon) with a pin against Campbell (3-2, 1-0 SoCon) and a decision against South Dakota State (1-1). The Wildcats took a forfeit win at 133 pounds against SDSU.

Patrick pinned Campbell's TeShaun Johnson in three minutes, 53 seconds, while Jordan Tolbert (133 pounds) and John Weakley (197) led Campbell with victories by fall.

Against SDSU, Patrick took a 14-13 decision over Tony Lisek. Dustin Walraven and Joe Rasmussen led the Jacks with wins by fall.

Davidson next hosts an open tournament, the Davidson Open, Saturday, Dec. 3 in Knoblauch Tennis Center.
