SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Elon’s Nick Millington has been named the Southern Conference’s Student-Athlete of the Week, the league office announced today.
The senior midfielder and co-captain led the sixth seeded Phoenix men’s soccer team to the program’s first-ever Southern Conference tournament title over the weekend. Following Elon’s 1-0 shutout of No. 16 Furman on Friday and the team’s 3-2 win over top-seeded UNCG, Millington was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.
Elon became the second lowest seed to win the tournament crown and the first team to beat the number one, two and three seeds en route to the title. Millington also added to his honors this week after being named to the Top Drawer Soccer team of the week.
Millington maintains a 3.5 GPA in political science.
Other nominees included Appalachian State volleyball player Courtney Rhein, Georgia Southern volleyball player Moriah Bellissimo, and UNCG runner Ashley Schnell.
