SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG’s Ashley Schnell has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Runner of the Week, the league office announced today. It is the second time this season Schnell has earned the weekly honor.

Schnell, the 2010 Southern Conference women’s champion, won the Panorama Farms Invitational title Friday. The redshirt senior jumped out to an early lead and maintained it over the 6K course to finish with a time of 21:03. The win is Schnell’s second this season as she also claimed the Elon Invitational title.

The Lincoln, Neb., native helped the Spartans finish second behind No.16 Virginia and ahead of four programs that are ranked in the top 15 in their respective regions.

UNCG competes again at the Southern Conference Championship in Charleston, S.C. October 29.
