SPARTANBURG, S.C. - UNCG junior goalkeeper Peyton Ford has been chosen as the Southern Conference men's soccer player of the week for all matches from October 10-16.
Ford recorded a pair of shutouts on the week as the Spartans earned a draw against Davidson and a 4-0 victory at Wofford on Saturday.
The Jamestown, N.C., native stopped three shots, as the Spartans' defense minimized the opponents' attack in both matches.
With 13 career shutouts and four on the season, Ford has lowered his goals against average in 2011 to 0.79, and in four SoCon matches, he has surrendered just one score.
Other Nominees: Harrison Delbridge (Appalachian State), Troy Peterson (College of Charleston) and Michael Gandier.
