SPARTANBURG,
S.C. – Furman’s Christina Dorismond has been named
the Southern Conference’s Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week. Samford’s
Alexis Bauer and Michaela Reesor have been named Defensive Player and Freshman
of the Week, respectively, the league office announced today.
Dorsimond, a middle blocker, recorded 33
kills last week for Furman as the Paladins went 3-0, improving to 12-6 (5-1) on
the season. She also recorded a team and career-high 13 kills to lead Furman
over College of Charleston (3-1). Furman handed the Cougars their first
conference loss this season.
The sophomore from Cary, N.C., recorded a .608 attack percentage last week. Dorismond is ranked fifth in
the conference with a .363 hitting percentage .
Bauer, a libero/defensive specialist for the
Bulldogs, led all Samford players in digs in the team’s matches against
Chattanooga (17) and Elon (24) last week.
The Floyds Knob, Ind., native is ranked
eighth in the conference in digs with a total of 299, as she averages 4.33 per
set.
Reesor, an outside hitter for the Bulldogs,
recorded a double-double in the match against Elon with 15 kills and 18 digs.
Both of those totals are career bests for the freshman from Caledon, Ontario.
The Bulldogs finished the week 3-0, improving
to 17-3 (4-2) on the season.

Kelsey Sidney (UNCG), Kasey Talley (Chattanooga), Jordan Timmermann (Western
