Wofford Duo Earns Academic Honor

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Paulo Bonfim and Wilson Hood were honored as selections to the 2010 NSCAA Scholar All-South Region team this past week. Both players were seniors for the Terrier men's soccer team this past fall. Bonfim and Hood were both named to the first-team, and were selected amongst all Division I schools in the Southern Region.

Bonfim was a captain for the men's soccer team this past season. He was part of the 2009 Southern Conference championship team and was also selected to the All-Southern Conference team last year. Bonfim has been awarded many academic accolades in his career including: 2010 CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-District team, 2009 Southern Conference Fall All-Academic Team, 2009 Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll, Harold W. Green Award (Top Student in Accounting at Wofford), 2008 Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll, 2007 ACC Academic Honor Roll, and 2006 ACC Academic Honor Roll. Bomfim graduated this past December as an accounting major.

Hood has the highest number of goals scored in a career in the Division I era with 19 and also accounts for the highest career total points in the Division I era with 42. He is one of Wofford men's soccer's most decorated players, being named 2010 All-Southern Conference, 2010 Pre-season All-Southern Conference, 2009 SoCon Champion, 2009 MVP of the Southern Conference Tournament, 2009 All-Southern Conference Tournament Team, 2009 College Soccer News Team of the Week, 2008 Wofford/Nike Soccer Classic All-Tournament selection. He also has many awards in academics including: 2010 CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-District team, 2009 Southern Conference Fall All-Academic Team, 2009 Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll, 2008 Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll. Hood will graduate in May as a sociology major.
