Carothers, a Charlotte, N.C., native, set a personal indoor record in the 400 meters with a time of 55.29 at the Kentucky Invitational on Jan. 15.  At the same meet, Carothers clocked a 7.81 in the 60 meters dash and ran a 53.8 split in the 4 x 400 meters relay.  The senior currently ranks first in the 400 meters, second in the 200 meters and fourth in the 60 meters in the SoCon.  She is also part of the 4 x 400 meters relay that ranks first in the conference.

Terry took first place at the MTSU Invitational in the women's high jump with a leap of 5-10.  The Franklin, Tenn., native, set a new Samford University record with that mark and leads the SoCon in the event.

Western Carolina and Samford both return to action this weekend at Clemson, S.C., to participate in the Clemson Games

Other top performers this week included:

Appalachian State junior Asia Dunlap - Dunlap won the Mountaineer Open 800 meters with a time of 2:16.52.  She currently leads the SoCon in the event.

College of Charleston freshman Dena O'Brien - O'Brien set a new Holmes Center record in the women's mile run when she ran a 4:59.63 at the Mountaineer Open.  She also ranks first in the SoCon in the mile.

Samford sophomore Lauren D'Alessio - D'Alessio ranks first in the SoCon in the 3000 meters after her time of 10:05.01 at the MTSU Invitational.

Georgia Southern senior Lynndsey Hyter - Hyter captured two first place finishes at the Mountaineer Open.  She recorded an 18-7 ¼ in the long jump and a 50-5 ½ in the triple jump.

Appalachian State freshman Cassie Crawford - Crawford won the pole vault at the Mountaineer Open with a vault of 12-6 ¾.  Crawford ranks first in the SoCon in the pole vault.
