UTC's David Moore Honored as Student-Athlete of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - David Moore, a senior men's track and field athlete at Chattanooga, has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for January 26, the league office announced today.

The Sarnia, Ontario, native holds a 4.0 GPA in engineering technology.

In the season-opening meet for the Mocs at the Blue Raider Invitational in Murfreesboro, Tenn., Moore ran a personal-best 1:55.02 in the 800-meter run, finishing second overall.  He topped his previous record of 1:57.46 by more than two seconds in the event.  Moore will run next weekend when the Mocs travel to the campus of the University of Kentucky to compete in the prestigious Rod McCravy Memorial Invitational.

A senior, Moore was named to the 2010 Southern Conference Fall All-Academic Team as a member of the men's cross country team, and he was also named to the UTC Athletics Director's Honor Roll and the Dean's List at Chattanooga last fall.
