SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Monique Floyd, a senior women's basketball player at UNCG, has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for January 19, the league office announced today.

The Fairmont, N.C., native holds a 3.79 GPA in recreation and parks management with a concentration in leisure services management.

In UNCG's lone game of the week, Floyd had a game-high 18 points with five rebounds and four assists in a 50-45 win over the College of Charleston.  It was the Spartans' first win in Charleston since the 2005-06 season and their first-ever win at Carolina First Arena.  The senior guard went 8-for-14 from the floor to help the Spartans stay tied atop the Southern Conference.  Floyd currently leads the conference in assist-to-turnovers with a 2.12 ratio.

Other nominees included Appalachian State women's basketball player Kelsey Sharkey, Elon women's basketball player Ali Ford and Georgia Southern women's basketball player Meredyth Frye.
