CLEMSON, S.C. - The Citadel Tennis team opened the 2011 season on a six-match road slate, first traveling to Clemson, S.C. to face nationally ranked Clemson University on Tuesday. The Bulldogs suffered a 7-0 loss to start the season, falling to 0-1 on the year, while the Tigers moved to 3-0 overall.
 
The Tigers took an early 1-0 advantage, winning two of the three to clinch the doubles point. The freshmen tandem of James Atkinson and Dillon Berkabile were the lone Bulldogs to collect a win as they defeated Cal Hilsman and Robert Pietrucha at the No. 3 doubles position, 8-4.

Clemson went on to claim victories in all six of the singles matches.  
 
The Citadel will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 29 when the Bulldogs travel to Conway, S.C. to face Coastal Carolina at 2 p.m.
