SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Brittany Hallberg, a senior women's soccer player at Elon, has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for September 8, the league office announced today.

The Richmond, Va., native carries a 3.62 GPA in elementary education.

Hallberg scored the golden goal in Elon's 2-1 double overtime victory against Gardner-Webb this weekend. The win was the first of two Elon victories on the weekend that helped the Phoenix win the UNCW Hilton Garden Inn Invitational. The senior has two goals on the young season.

Other nominees included Appalachian State football player Karl Anderson, College of Charleston men's cross country runner Chris Bailey, The Citadel football player Domonic Jones, Davidson volleyball player Sarabeth Peele, Georgia Southern women's cross country runner Sara Curry, UNCG women's cross country runner Michelle Chewens, Western Carolina women's cross country runner Morgan Turner and Wofford volleyball player Reagan Styles.
